Where the auditorium now sits was the first home of the Rockets when the school opened in 1941. The stage is where the basketball court sat.

The home court for Rocket basketball for 39 years played host to some of Northeast most memorable contest. Because of the support from the community, many of Northeast games were played in bigger gyms like Lincoln East, Lincoln High and Persing. It was not unusual for the Junior Varsity games to be standing room only. The Center gym is now used for lower level basketball games.

One of three courts in the West gym, Northeast is able to have three basketball practices at once. In all Northeast has six practice courts throughout the school.
