LINCOLN NORTHEAST COACHING STAFF
FOUNDATIONS OF LNE BASKETBALL

"The basketball program at Northeast seeks to be supplemental to the school’s academic program, not an entity in and of itself. Athletics offer the student-athlete an opportunity to experience real life situations while learning to be a member of a team. The opportunity exists to develop as a person intellectually, morally, physically, and socially. If the student-athlete does not take care of his responsibilities off the court, there will be consequences he will face within the basketball program.

We as coaches are first of all teachers. The subject matter in this case is basketball and competition is the medium for learning. The integrity of the individual is valued highly, but the team commands our greatest respect. Each member of the team will learn to respect his teammates, have pride in their achievement, and learn that improvement and success come through self-discipline and personal sacrifice.

The student-athlete is a total individual who must be aware that his achievement on the court, in the classroom, and in the community cannot be separated. I believe that good things happen to good people who work hard at doing their best in all aspects of their life. An athlete cannot expect to perform with consistency on the court if he does not perform consistently off the court.

Communication is the tie that binds this all together. Teammates, coaches, parents, faculty, administration, and the Northeast community each play a role in the program.

Make no mistake; this is not an intramural program. Tough decisions will be made for the success of the program. Every student-athlete will play a role. Not everyone will be called upon come game time.

As head coach, I ask for your trust and support."
